What “uncensored” actually means for an AI girlfriend app

“Uncensored” is a marketing word, not a technical standard. Two apps can both use it and behave very differently, so it helps to split it into three separate questions before comparing anything.

• Conversation rules. Does the app let verified adults have romantic or sexual conversations, or does it steer away from them?
• Visual rules. Can the images and video the app generates be adult in nature, or is that switched off?
• Story rules. Does the app allow dark, dramatic or morally grey fiction, such as villains, conflict and tense scenes, or does it smooth everything into a pleasant chat?

A platform can say yes to one and no to another. That is why this page records what each official site actually says rather than repeating the label.

It also never means “no rules”. Even the most permissive services we looked at describe some boundaries, usually around minors, consent and illegal activity. One of the three platforms below publishes a detailed list of banned content, and the others refer to guidelines or limits in less detail. Treat any app that claims to have no rules at all with suspicion.

What the three platforms say about themselves

The wording below comes from each platform's own pages, recorded on the date shown under the comparison table. It tells you what the company promises, not how strictly it enforces its rules day to day. We have not run hands-on tests of the filters.

Candy AI

Candy AI is the only one of the three whose homepage uses the word itself, describing “immersive, uncensored fantasy experiences” in what it calls a private space. Its FAQ adds that interactions are fictional and consenting and must follow its Community Guidelines, so the promise comes with rules attached. We have not yet recorded the contents of those guidelines. Read them before you pay.

OurDream

OurDream positions itself as a “no limits” roleplay platform, where the stated idea is that you can play out any fantasy. Its site also describes NSFW image and video generation, and the whole site sits behind an adults-only confirmation screen. As with Candy AI, “no limits” is a slogan. We have not recorded a published list of prohibited content for this platform, so we cannot tell you where its boundaries are.

Nectar AI

Nectar AI takes a more structured approach. It offers separate SFW and NSFW modes. Its FAQ says SFW mode filters explicit content, while NSFW mode removes those filters and allows mature adult content, including explicit roleplay, for verified users aged 18 and over. It then lists what is banned in every mode, which covers minors, non-consensual scenarios, incest, bestiality, extreme violence, abduction and trafficking, prostitution, bodily-waste fetishes, illegal activity, hate speech, real people and copyrighted characters.

How we decided the order

No platform on this page has been through our hands-on evaluation, so there are no numeric ratings. The order is an editorial judgement made from information we could confirm, using four questions:

1. How directly does the platform's own site describe unfiltered adult content?
2. How many formats does it confirm in one product: chat, images, voice, video, a character builder and memory?
3. How much can we confirm about price, free access and rules, so you can decide before paying?
4. Is anything we found a reason for caution, such as metered usage or premium-only memory?

Missing information is treated as neutral, not as a negative. “Not confirmed” never means “not offered”. The order will change as soon as we can back it with evaluation scores, and when it does, this page will say so.

Platform notes

1. Candy AI: the widest set of confirmed formats

Candy AI's official site describes chat, generated images, voice notes and AI-generated video, a builder for creating your own companion, memory that carries between chats, and a free trial. It runs in the browser on desktop or mobile, so there is nothing to install. For a reader who wants the most formats under one subscription, it is the broadest profile we have confirmed.

• Worth knowing: usage is metered in tokens, and the site notes that more detailed companions use more tokens. The monthly price alone will not tell you what a heavy month costs.
• Not yet confirmed: the exact price we could verify, how voice works in practice, and the contents of the Community Guidelines.

2. OurDream: roleplay focus and published prices

OurDream describes itself as an AI roleplay platform. It confirms a customisable companion with a choice of appearance, personality and voice, realistic or anime art styles, image and video generation, voice calls, and a memory system for earlier chats. It is the only one of the three whose subscription prices we have confirmed from its own site.

• Worth knowing: the lowest price is the yearly plan at $9.99 per month, billed as a single $119.88 payment. The monthly plan is $19.99. Both include unlimited messages with any character and a monthly allowance of 1,000 dreamcoins for premium actions.
• Not yet confirmed: any free tier, a list of banned content, and how the platform handles privacy.

3. Nectar AI: the clearest rules and a free plan

Nectar AI confirms a free plan with the character creator, AI chat and a limited number of image generations. Paid plans add unlimited messaging, longer memory, HD image and video generation and extra AI models. It states that conversations are private and are not used to train external models. It sits third here because its own wording leans on moderated modes and a long banned list. That is excellent for transparency, but readers whose first priority is the fewest restrictions may find the first two a closer match.

• Worth knowing: premium memory features stop when a subscription ends, and chat history stored under premium tiers may become inaccessible. Credits for premium actions are bought separately or bundled with plans.
• Not yet confirmed: the price of paid plans and whether voice is offered.

Which one fits your priority?

• You want the platform that uses the word “uncensored” itself: Candy AI.
• You want roleplay with prices you can check before signing up: OurDream.
• You want to try something for free and read the rules in detail first: Nectar AI has a free plan and the most detailed published rules. Candy AI also describes a free trial.
• You care about voice: Candy AI describes voice notes and OurDream describes voice calls. We have not confirmed voice for Nectar AI.
• You care about video: all three describe video generation, so compare how each one meters it.
• You care about memory: all three describe memory between chats. Nectar AI says its memory is still limited and offers extended memory on premium plans.
• You are on a tight budget: only OurDream has prices we have confirmed. Check the others at sign-up before entering payment details.

Money, tokens and billing: read this before you subscribe

These services mix a subscription with a second currency. Candy AI uses tokens, OurDream uses dreamcoins and Nectar AI uses credits. The subscription gets you in the door; the second currency decides how far you can go with images, video and voice. Before you pay, check four things at the checkout screen rather than on a marketing page:

1. The price you will actually be charged today, and the price at renewal.
2. Whether the plan is billed monthly or as one upfront payment, which is how OurDream's cheapest plan works.
3. What happens to your saved characters and chat history if you cancel. Nectar AI, for instance, says premium features stay active until the end of the billing period and then the account returns to the free plan.
4. How the charge will appear on your statement. Candy AI says payments appear under a neutral merchant name, and lists card and cryptocurrency options.

Privacy, safety and age

Adult-oriented chat is personal by nature, so treat privacy as part of the decision, not an afterthought.

• What the platforms say. Candy AI says data is encrypted in transit and describes its approach as GDPR-compliant. Nectar AI says conversations and generated content are private, not visible to other users and not used to train external AI models. We have not recorded privacy statements for OurDream, so read its policy yourself.
• Deleting your data. Nectar AI says account deletion is requested through support and is permanent. Find out how deletion works on any platform before you share anything sensitive.
• Share less than you think you need to. Use an email address that does not contain your real name, skip identifying details in chat, and avoid uploading photos of real people.
• Remember what it is. These are fictional characters generated by software. They can be enjoyable, but they are not a substitute for human relationships or professional support.

Red flags to watch for

• No clear price until after you create an account.
• A claim that there are “no rules” of any kind, with no mention of age checks or banned content.
• No way to delete your account or data that you can find in advance.
• Reviews that claim detailed testing but show no dates, methods or evidence. We say plainly on this page that we have not run hands-on tests.
• Automatic renewal that is hard to cancel, or a free trial that asks for payment details without stating the terms.

What we have not confirmed yet

Being clear about gaps matters more on a page like this than on most. Here is what is still open:

• How strictly each platform applies its own rules in real conversations.
• The quality of generated images, video and voice, and how consistent a character stays over time.
• The real monthly cost for heavy users on token and credit systems.
• Privacy practices beyond what each platform's own pages state.
